Of the thousands of record labels in Nigeria only a few of them are doing well. The rest are just there bearing names no one knows. And out of the labels making waves, among the top five is Mavin Record. This label is adjudged by many as being the the best recording label in Nigeria. It was founded by Michael Collins Ajereh aka Don Jazzy on May 8, 2012.

Mavin Records is Africa’s leading record label. Founded in Lagos in 2012 by legendary producer Don Jazzy, Mavin has produced some of the most iconic artists and songs of this decade and has shaped the sound of Afrobeats music.

The label was initially called Mo’Hits record before the controversy which led to D’banj leaving the label. Mavin was formed result of D’banj’s departure from Mo’ Hits. Prior to commenting on D’banj’s exit from Mo’ Hits, there were allegations that D’banj signed over Mo’ Hits to Don Jazzy. In an interview with Sunday Punch, Don Jazzy addressed D’banj’s departure from Mo Hits, saying, “We were working together and all was going on well. It got to a point where I looked at the situation and we both decided that it was not working and we had to move on”. Don Jazzy alluded to being hesitant of a name change. According to the term “Mavin” describes someone who is gifted and skilled in any field.

The label spans different genres of music from Afrobeats to alternative rock to rap. It it one of the biggest labels in Africa and one of the leading in the world in terms of delivery. To Join Mavin records you need to have a certain degree of skills.

Sidney Onoriode Esiri known commonly as, Dr SID is a Nigerian singer-songwriter. He is an Urhobo from Delta state but was raised in Lagos. His father was legendary Nollywood actor Justus Esiri (Late) and his mother is a successful fashion designer and business woman.

Charles Enebeli aka D’Prince was born on the 23 October 1986) to a successful business man and music production manager Collins Enebeli, and his wife Patience Enebeli who is an international Business tycoon. He is the younger brother of music mogul and CEO of Mavin Records, Don Jazzy.

Divine Ikubor aka Rema is a Nigerian Afro beat singer, Recording artiste, performer and hip hop rapper. He was born 2001 in Benin City, Edo State.

Hadiza Blell, better known by her stage name Di’Ja, is a Nigerian singer and songwriter. Di’Ja has lived in Nigeria, Sierra Leone, the United States and Canada. Her mother is from Northern Nigeria and her father is from Sierra Leone.

Korede Bello was born  on the 29th of February 1996. He came into limelight after his hit track Godwin garnered massive airplay locally and internatonally. He was born in Lagos where he completed his primary and secondary school education. He started performing at the age of 7 and went by the stage name African Prince.

John Ighodaro aka Johnny Drille was born on July 5, 1990. He is a professional Vocalist who came into limelight after performing a cover for Di’Ja’s Awwww track. Drille began his music career in church and was a contestant of the sixth season of the MTN Project Fame. His cover of Di’Ja’s Awww is what attracted Don Jazzy’s attention which subsequently led to him being signed.

Clinton and Blair Roberts, officially and popularly known as DNA, are identical twin brothers and talented music artistes with a natural flare for performance and the arts.

These Nigerian all round entertainers are motivated and creative individuals who broke into the music scene and officially kicked off their music career after winning the prize for “Best Upcoming Teen Artiste” in the Nigerian Teen Choice Awards in 2013. They continued on this trajectory and went on to compete in popular talent shows like X-factor and The Voice Nigeria where they finished top 7 and Top 12 respectively.

Ladipo Eso aka Ladipoe or simply Poe is a Nigerian musician, recording artiste and performer. He got signed into Mavin On 28 February 2017. He rose to prominence with the song “Feel Alright” where he got featured by SDC “Show Dem Camp.

Crayon got signed to Mavin on the 31st of May 2019. He is a talented singer from Lagos.
